ARE YOU READY TO MEET THE FIG COMMUNITY SUPERSTARS?

Hello again, old friends.

community yoga network teachers

And so we’re back.

The first week of 2021 hit me like a tonne of bricks. Did you feel it?

I was trying my best to head tentatively into the New Year. Creeping in softly, not expecting too much, so as not to jinx anything.

But my efforts obviously went unnoticed and the UK went into its most serious nationwide lockdown since March 2020.

I knew I needed to lean once more on this beautiful community to get me through. The comforting words, the connection, simply the collective oneness of all us teachers around the globe truly does light me up whenever things are feeling a little dark.

Plus the sun goes down at like 4:30pm here, so it's been mighty dark!

The wonderful yoga teachers that make up this community are always my ray of sunlight.

So what better way to brighten my day than to get to know you all better. To bask in your wisdom, to gain inspiration from your personal practices, and to take note from how you handle your struggles, too.

'Introducing You' is the newest feature of The Fig Yoga. Every week in The Journal, we'll be highlighting the teachings, guidance, knowledge and recommendations of a different Fig Yoga community member.

This series optimises what The Fig is all about. Learning and growing - both within ourselves and for our teaching careers - from one and other, together.

Because that's what we are; a community of 'people helping people'.

I can't wait to hear what you think of the new addition - be sure to reach out to myself and the featured teacher and let us know!

Here's to all the new connections to be made in this brand new year.

This week’s recs

Some of THE most confusing yoga cues, explained. Mind officially unscrambled.

Yogi Approved

'Through regular yoga practice, I find it more and more simple to deal with whatever is coming up inside and to act from a place of truth instead of temporary emotions. I feel like when you start to get a feeling for your inner spaces, your unconscious fears and your truths, you are able to become more and more your authentic, unfiltered self. The path of yoga is a path of self-realization and liberation.'

Naomi Hattler

Instead of focusing on New Year's resolutions - which can leave you feeling disappointed and self-critical if they are not kept to (and believe me, it's always hard to keep to them!) - why not try working on a new, no strings attached, healthy habit instead? All the benefit, none of the sense of failure. Sign me up!

Brooklyn Yoga Club

Do you get inspiration for class plans from other yoga teacher's sequences? I certainly have. Mindfully and respectfully of course, giving thanks and showing recognition of the fact when I do.
