MIRROR MIRROR, RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME?

Life advice: how our external worlds mirror our internal experiences

mirror life advice

I've been noticing a pattern lately. A lot of the troubles that the people close to me in my life have been experiencing, turns out, I've felt them too.

And I'm not talking your average problems. The ones that we all go through and can easily relate to. I'm talking specific, soul searching issues that have been plaguing me for months, but I wasn't really aware of them.

They're starting to pop up in my conversations with everyone… friends and loved ones and colleagues.

It's spooky really.

Until I was reminded recently that the people closest to us, the situations they are facing, the experiences you have together, these are all just a mirror of own internal world.

It didn't stop there. I also noticed how easily I could recognise ways for others to potentially overcome or face up to these problems. The advice or support flowed out of me seamlessly, no judgement or criticism in sight.

However when these feelings have come up for ME in the past? They're invalid, or shameful, or not worthy of my sympathy or anyone else's. Most of the time, I don't even acknowledge them at all.

The lesson I have taken out of this experience has been two-fold:

1. The people we meet in our lives show up to reflect something we need to heal within ourselves. We need to acknowledge these patterns, they're not just synchronicities.

2. Listen to your own advice. If you think it is valuable enough to share with the ones you love, then it is worthy enough for you, too.

Turns out, we are all giving the advice to others, that we really need to hear ourselves.

Last week was anxiety inducing. This past weekend, we finally had a reason to celebrate. I'm bringing this energy into the coming weeks, months, heck until this 2020 year is over with the help of one insanely upbeat playlist. Filled with disco chunes and funky beats, there are a few songs in there that will make you get up out of your chair to boogie, I'm sure of it.
