YOGA: BODY, MIND, EYES?
What is eye yoga?
Been staring at the screen a lot lately?
Yeah, me too.
I learnt this genius practice of ‘eye yoga’ from bones thrown (their newsletter is a special read - check it out) and it has been a daily goal to soften my eyes, as well as my body and soul, this week.
Rub the palms of your hands together, to generate friction and heat.
Place your palms over closed eyes and feel the warmth. Keep your hands there.
Move your eyes (closed), SLOWLY, clockwise. Pause at every ‘number’ on the clock. Walk your eyes around the clock from number to number.
See the image above (kudos to @samiseeart for that one). This, is eye yoga.
Neat right?
This is my simple reminder to take some time for you today.
Away from phones and screens.
How did it make you feel? Can't wait to hear.
This week’s recs
Find your mind a-wandering? This beautiful breathwork practice from one of our Fig Community members Lydia, focuses on, well, focus.
An important take on Black History Month from Naaya Wellness: a community that roots BIPOC in their well-being through decolonizing wellness.
A funny, sweet insight into what yoga teachers have seen during a year of zoom classes.
Love is the word of the week. Although this holiday is problematic in heaps of ways, there so much joy to be found in the L word. On every day, not just the 14th. Join Manoj for a mindfulness workshop exploring love in all its forms. Meditation, breathwork, music, philosophy and journaling, all to the sound of an experimental harpist? I know that's how I'll be spending my Sunday (1-2pm PST).
I'm the kind of person that likes to switch up their meditation practices. Either for my own practice, or when leading my students. I find the variation allows me to delve deeper and learn which kind of practices align (and which do not). I love getting inspiration from books just like this one.
